Fellow Horizon Toastmasters:

Congratulations to the following winners this evening:

Best Speaker:        MEREDITH GRANT

Best Table Topics: AMELIA CLARK

Best Evaluator:       STEPHEN BENTLEY

The Word of the Day was:  paradigm

LIVYA MITCHELL served as TMOD and the meeting theme was "On This Day." LYNN WARE gave a great Ice Breaker speech, Project 1 (The Ice Breaker), 4-6 minutes, from the Competent Communication Manual. MEREDITH GRANT inspired us with her impromptu speech - Project 2 (Uplift the Spirit), 10-12 minutes, from the Specialty Speeches Advanced Communication Manual.

The summer slump continued to affect our attendance with only 9 members and 4 guests present. Two of our guests, JHON SANCHEZ and SHIRLEY SMITH, were inducted as new members during the business portion of the meeting.  The other two guests, JOAN BONEBURG and BILL MAY, are experienced Toastmasters and expressed an interest in joining Horizon.

Business items:

Club officers will meet next week, July 27, 2010, following the regular Toastmasters meeting.

We encourage members to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to meeting time each week to enjoy socializing before the meeting starts.
